MJK Law Corp. Privacy Policy
Effective Date: October 5, 2026 Last Updated: October 5, 2026
MJK Law Corp. (“MJKLC,” “the Firm,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information about the individuals we serve and who interact with us, our website at www.mjklawcorp.com, and our legal services. It also describes the privacy rights we make available to you and how to exercise them.
This Privacy Policy does not change, limit, or waive the professional obligations we owe as a law firm, including our duty of confidentiality and the attorney-client privilege. Information provided to us in the course of representing or evaluating the representation of a client is governed by the California Rules of Professional Conduct and applicable law, and nothing in this policy requires or permits us to disclose privileged or confidential client information.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal information we handle in an employment capacity.
MJKLC is not a “financial institution” and is not subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA).
1. Personal Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers — name, postal address, email address, telephone number, account or client-matter identifiers, and IP address.
- Client intake and identity-verification information — information we collect to confirm identity, run conflict-of-interest checks, and open a matter, which may include government-issued identifiers.
- Professional and background information — employer, title, and professional background you provide in connection with our services.
- Financial and billing information — billing and payment details, and financial information needed to provide or bill for our services.
- Matter information — documents, records, communications, and other information you or others provide in connection with a legal matter.
- Sensitive information — where relevant to a matter or required for intake, information such as government identifiers (for example, Social Security or driver’s license numbers), financial account information, health information, or information revealing protected characteristics.
- Internet and device activity — information about your interactions with our website, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
2. Sources of Personal Information
We collect personal information directly from you; automatically through your use of our website; from our service providers; and from other parties in the course of providing legal services, such as courts and government agencies, opposing or counterparty representatives, co-counsel, witnesses, and referral sources, where permitted by law.
3. How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information to: provide and administer our legal services; communicate with you and prospective clients about matters and inquiries; evaluate and onboard new engagements, including conflict-of-interest and identity-verification checks; establish and administer the client relationship, including engagement, billing, collections, and recordkeeping; operate, secure, and improve our website and internal systems; send administrative communications and, where permitted, marketing communications such as legal updates and event invitations (from which you may opt out at any time); protect the Firm, our personnel, and our clients, including detecting and preventing fraud and security incidents; comply with applicable laws, regulations, court orders, and our professional and ethical obligations; and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
We will not use personal information for materially different, unrelated, or incompatible purposes without providing you notice and, where required by law, obtaining your consent. California does not require your opt-in consent to process sensitive information; instead, you may direct us to limit our use of it, as described in Sections 8 and 11. Where another state’s law requires your consent before we process sensitive information — including Virginia, Colorado, and Connecticut — we will obtain that consent.
4. How We Disclose Personal Information
We disclose personal information to:
- Service providers and contractors that perform functions on our behalf under written contracts requiring confidentiality and restricting use to our purposes, such as information-technology and cloud-hosting providers, practice-management and billing providers, litigation-support and e-discovery providers, and professional advisors.
- Other parties as needed to provide legal services, such as courts, counsel, and third parties involved in a matter, where permitted by law.
- Other parties as required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of the Firm, our clients, and our personnel.
We do not sell your personal information, and we have not done so. We do not engage in targeted advertising or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use personal information to train large language models.
5. Data Retention
We retain each category of personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law or by our professional obligations. In determining retention periods, we consider the duration of our relationship with you; our legal, tax, and professional-responsibility obligations, including client-file recordkeeping obligations applicable to California attorneys; and the need to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and to comply with applicable statutes of limitations.
Our current retention periods for typical categories of information are:
Category of Information

7 years after the matter concludes, unless a longer period is required by law or agreed with the client
Engagement, client-intake, identity-verification, and conflict-of-interest records

When personal information is no longer needed for these purposes, we securely delete, destroy, or de-identify it in a manner that protects its confidentiality.
6. Security
We maintain administrative, physical, and technical safeguards designed to protect personal information appropriate to its volume and sensitivity. No system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. In particular, email, text messages, and chats sent to or from us may not be secure, and you should consider what information you send through those channels. You are also responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect your own information, including safeguarding any account credentials.
7. Cookies, Online Tracking, and Opt-Out Preference Signals
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to operate, secure, analyze, and improve the site. Because we do not sell personal information or engage in targeted advertising, we do not use these technologies to track your activity across third-party websites for advertising, and we do not authorize third parties to collect personal information about your online activities over time and across different websites through our site. Where required by law, we honor opt-out preference signals (such as Global Privacy Control) transmitted by your browser or device.
8. Your Privacy Rights
As a matter of Firm policy, we extend the following privacy rights to all of our clients and website visitors, without limitation and regardless of your state of residence:
- Access / confirmation — confirm whether we process your personal information and obtain a copy of it.
- Correction — correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal and professional exceptions.
- Portability — obtain a portable copy of the personal information you provided to us.
- Opt out of sale, targeted advertising, and profiling — although we do not sell personal information, engage in targeted advertising, or profile you in furtherance of decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects, you may confirm and exercise these rights at any time.
- Limit or withhold consent for sensitive information — direct how we use your sensitive information, consistent with applicable law.
- Appeal — appeal our decision on any privacy request (see Section 10).
- Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate or retaliate against you for exercising any of these rights.
9. How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise any of the rights above, submit a request to us by:
- Email: mark@mjklawcorp.com
- Phone: 310-739-8295
- Online: https://www.mjklawcorp.com/contact/
Please describe your request with enough detail for us to understand and respond to it. We will not require you to create an account to submit a request, though we may ask you to verify an existing account. Only you, or a person legally authorized to act on your behalf, may submit a request; we may take reasonable steps to verify your identity and authority before responding, and we will use information you provide in a request only to process that request.
We will confirm receipt of your request within ten business days and will respond substantively within 45 days. We may extend that period once by an additional 45 days when reasonably necessary, in which case we will notify you within the first 45-day period and explain the reason. We do not charge a fee to process a verifiable request unless it is excessive, repetitive, or manifestly unfounded, in which case we will explain the reason and provide a cost estimate before proceeding.
10. Right to Appeal
If we decline to act on your privacy request, we will notify you of our decision and the reasons for it. You may appeal that decision by sending a written appeal to our Privacy Officer, referencing your original request, by either:
- Email to mark@mjklawcorp.com, with the subject line “Privacy Request Appeal”; or
- Mail to: MJK Law Corp.
Attn: Privacy Officer — Appeals
1317 Devlin Drive
Los Angeles, CA 90069.
Your appeal will be reviewed by the Firm’s Privacy Officer, who will reconsider the original decision. We will inform you in writing of the outcome of your appeal, together with the reasons for it, within 60 days of receipt. If we deny your appeal, we will provide you with a method to contact your state Attorney General to submit a complaint.
11. State-Specific Privacy Rights
The rights described in Section 8 are available to all clients and visitors. The following summaries identify how those rights correspond to the consumer privacy laws of specific states. Where a state law imposes additional or different requirements, we comply with them for residents of that state.
California (CCPA/CPRA). You have the rights to know/access, delete, and correct your personal information, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. Because we do not sell or share personal information and use sensitive personal information only for purposes California permits, the opt-out and limit rights do not require action on our part, but you may contact us with any request. California does not require our opt-in consent to process your sensitive personal information; instead, you may direct us to limit its use. You also have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights.
Virginia (VCDPA). You have the rights to confirm and access, correct, delete, and obtain a portable copy of your personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and profiling in furtherance of decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects. We obtain your consent before processing sensitive data. You may appeal a decision on your request under Section 10.
Colorado (CPA). You have the rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and profiling in furtherance of decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects, and we honor universal opt-out mechanisms for targeted advertising and sale. We obtain your consent before processing sensitive data. You may appeal a decision on your request under Section 10.
Connecticut (CTDPA). You have the rights to access (including any inferences and whether we profile you), correct, delete, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of targeted advertising, sale, and profiling in furtherance of decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects, and we honor opt-out preference signals for targeted advertising and sale. We obtain your consent before processing sensitive data. You may request a list of the third parties to which we have disclosed personal data. We do not use personal data to train large language models. You may appeal a decision on your request under Section 10.
Utah (UCPA). You have the rights to confirm and access, delete the personal data you provided to us, obtain a portable copy, and opt out of targeted advertising and sale. Before processing sensitive data, we provide notice and an opportunity to opt out.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will revise the “Last Updated” date above, post the updated policy at www.mjklawcorp.com, and provide any additional notice required by law before applying changes to previously collected information.
